The University of Salford's School of Built Environment, is heading an investigation which may ultimately produce employer focused provision of higher education in an area of the economy that is currently overlooked and in need - Building Services Engineering. Building services engineering appears to be underrepresented in higher education. There are few progression routes for further education and virtually no progression agreements between colleges and universities. There is a need to establish the viability of higher education in this subject area. The Centre for Education in the Built Environment based at the University of Salford has secured funding for the Greater Manchester Strategic Alliance (GMSA) special project that will examine the need for a ladder of opportunity for higher education in the building services engineering area.

A questionnaire has been designed to target Human Resource/Senior managers working in the industry and the main objective of the questionnaire is to find out the business needs and skills gaps. The questionnaire will take approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete. The information that you give will be treated confidentially and will remain anonymous.
